The second-largest jackpot game in the PCSO line-up, and the one most people encounter first on live television. Here is how it works and where it sits against the rest.
Grand Lotto 6/55 asks you to pick six numbers from 1 to 55. Match all six in any order and you take the jackpot. It sits directly beneath 6/58 Ultra Lotto in both jackpot size and difficulty, with 28,989,675 possible combinations.
For many Filipinos this is the most familiar lotto game, because Grand Lotto draws are among those carried live on PTV. That visibility means large 6/55 jackpots tend to draw heavy public attention and long queues at outlets in the days before a draw.
Grand Lotto is drawn Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 9:00 PM Philippine time.
Notice that this is the exact opposite schedule to 6/58, which draws Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. Between the two games there is a major jackpot draw almost every night of the week โ a deliberate piece of scheduling on PCSO's part.
The mechanics are identical to the rest of the six-ball family. Mark six numbers from 1 to 55 on a Grand Lotto play slip, or ask for Lucky Pick and let the terminal choose. A standard play costs โฑ25 per combination.
System play lets you select more than six numbers, with the terminal generating every possible six-number combination from your selection. Picking seven numbers produces seven combinations; picking eight produces twenty-eight. It genuinely multiplies your chance of winning โ and multiplies the cost by exactly the same factor. You are buying more tickets, not better value.
Always check the printed ticket at the counter before you leave. The printed slip is the only thing that counts at claiming time.
| You match | Prize tier | Odds |
|---|---|---|
| 6 numbers | Jackpot | 1 in 28,989,675 |
| 5 numbers | 2nd prize | 1 in 98,604 |
| 4 numbers | 3rd prize | 1 in 1,643 |
| 3 numbers | Consolation | 1 in 79 |
Grand Lotto's jackpot odds are roughly 28% better than 6/58 โ meaningful in relative terms, though both remain long shots by any ordinary measure. The lower tiers follow the same pari-mutuel rules as the rest of the family: the pool for each tier is split among everyone who matched it, so amounts move from draw to draw.
You can see what each tier actually paid on any recent draw on our results pages.
Grand Lotto occupies a deliberate middle position. Against 6/58 Ultra Lotto it offers better odds but a smaller typical jackpot. Against 6/49 Super Lotto it offers a larger jackpot but odds roughly twice as long.
If you have no strong preference, the honest framing is this: the five six-ball games all cost the same per play, so the only real question is how you want to trade probability against prize size. The odds guide lays all five out in a single table so the trade-off is visible at a glance.
Sign the back of your ticket immediately, photograph both sides, and keep it flat and dry โ lotto tickets are printed on thermal paper and fade badly in heat. Prizes above โฑ10,000 are subject to a 20% withholding tax, and every winning ticket expires one year after the draw date.
Our step-by-step claiming guide covers where to go for each prize size, the documents you need, and the scams that follow every large jackpot.
